About the event
DOC NYC’s Short List sections present nonfiction films that the festival’s programming team considers among the year’s strongest contenders for the Oscars and other prizes. Short List: Shorts, launched in 2018, selects 15 shorts each year, and in each of the past five years it has screened the eventual Oscar winner for Best Documentary Short.
Listen screens in the 2026 “Legacies” program on Thursday, November 12 at 1:50 PM at IFC Center, followed by a Q&A with director Taliesin Black-Brown and producer Sam Davis. Listen also streams online November 11 through 29.
