The Changing World of Moroccan Hammams Wins Best Documentary at FINIFA 2026
We are delighted to share that The Changing World of Moroccan Hammams, directed by Petri Luukkainen, has won Best Documentary (Meilleur Documentaire) in the International Competition at the 17th edition of FINIFA, the Issni N'Ourgh International Amazigh Film Festival, in Agadir, Morocco.
The jury awarded the prize ex aequo, and the film shares the honor with The Last Puestero by Belle Casares (Argentina). We extend our warm congratulations to Belle and her team.
Twenty Years of Issni N'Ourgh
This year's festival also celebrated 20 years of Issni N'Ourgh and its work championing Amazigh cinema and culture. The awards ceremony took place at Cinéma Sahara in Agadir, where Rachid Haloui accepted the award on behalf of the film team. Rachid, an architect, appears in the film and shares his perspective on the preservation of Morocco's hammams, so it was especially fitting to see him receive the honor in Morocco.
Rachid Haloui accepts the Best Documentary award on behalf of the film team at FINIFA 2026, Cinéma Sahara, Agadir.
The FINIFA award follows the film's Gold Dolphin for Investigative Documentaries and Reports and Silver Dolphin for Lifestyle, Food and Living at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards 2026.
Our thanks to the FINIFA festival team and jury for this recognition, and our congratulations to Petri and everyone who brought the film to life.
